| Dana’s grandfather raised her after her parents were killed on a hunting trip by a grizzly bear. He didn’t believe in treating her any different simply because she was a girl, so she learned early to push herself physically as well as mentally. Dana’s family has long served their tribe as shamans, though her grandfather was considered by many to have broken tradition by studying medicine at the White Man’s University. He began training Dana at an early age to follow the same path because he sensed the power in her, even as a child. Through his stories and games, she learned much more than just the history of her people, she learned the way of the Earth. At the University she graduated at the top of her class with much hard work, and determination to learn Medicine like her grandfather before her.
