The lead into this year’s game.
Delaney: today you met a nice old man down by the beach. He asked how John, Vi and the kids were
doing, and did you like living with Mr. Ecsott. He told you he lived in the South of France. You two
talked all day as he fished, and made sand castles, he told you he liked making sand castles. After
making a big castle, he said it looked like the one John grew up in. He said John was a happy boy
until he started messing with The Magic. He said he never wanted John to go into the family business,
but never told him.
You asked why he was crying, he said he got sand in his eye. He asked you if you wanted to see some
magic. When you said yes, he took a small box from his fishing box, and told you to put out your
arms. He moved the box over your arms, and you felt a little pinch, and he showed you a little ball
with a light on it. He said now no one can track you, he gave you the box and said you need to do the
same thing to VI and all of your brothers and sisters when you go back to Ecsott’s. When you said you
didn’t see the magic, he said the little ball was in your arm, and he got it out without breaking you skin.
When you said that’s not magic, he said OK watch this and he pulled a piece of candy out of the air.
He said when you came to see him in France he would show you how to do it. After you made him pull
candy out of the air one more time, he said it was getting late and you needed to go home. You started
up the hill and you turned around to wave goodbye and he was gone.
When you told John about the nice old man, he asked “what did he look like”. You told him, he was
as big as Big Brother Golem (7’.6” over 400 lb) with dark red hair like yours, but no colors in it. He
had a beard like the little guy from the Lord of the Rings, but his had skulls in the braids. John said,
he was a bad man and not to see him again. John looked like he was upset with you.
